Caloroso Pizza

A complete brand identity for Caloroso, a London pizzeria. A warm, hand-crafted logo with a slice-and-heart mark, Italian green and red, and a playful pizza pattern that runs from aprons to the delivery car.

Caloroso is a neighbourhood pizzeria in Hackney, London, built around generous, wood-fired pizza and a warm welcome. The owners wanted a brand that felt as inviting as the food: easy to recognise on the street, friendly in the dining room and consistent on everything from business cards to the delivery car.

Art direction

The logo pairs a condensed, hand-drawn wordmark with a pizza slice that turns into a heart, a simple way to say the name: caloroso means warm and heartfelt in Italian. A green and red arc nods to the Italian flag without becoming a cliché.

From the slice we built a pattern of whole pizzas with a single slice missing, used in green on charcoal and in red and cream on kraft. It gives every touchpoint energy and humour, and makes even packaging instantly recognisable.

Creative process

We started with the experience inside the restaurant: menus, placemats, staff aprons and T-shirts, so the brand would feel complete from the moment guests sit down. The line “Ummm… something’s cookin’” adds a playful voice to uniforms and merchandise.

The system was then extended to stationery, folders and a fully wrapped delivery car, keeping the same charcoal base, logo and pattern so Caloroso looks the same on the table, on the street and at the door.

Caloroso now has a warm, memorable brand that feels like a local favourite, with a pattern and logo that work just as well on a T-shirt as on a delivery car.
